Microneedling - Worcester, ma

Put your collagen to work!  Treatments such as microneedling produce a controlled injury on the skin, forcing a wound healing response in your body that creates new healthy collagen and elastin!

Traditional microneedling is commonly referred to as a “cold laser,” this ancient skincare treatment began as dermal rolling, a handheld roller device with microneedles used to rejuvenate scars and then lines and wrinkles. Today multiple forms of microneedling are available, including dermal pens and treatments with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or radiofrequency (RF). At The WooSkin, we offer traditional microneedling using ProCell dermal pen.

How Does Microneedling Work?

  • Step One: Tiny mirconeedles pulse into the skin creating thousands of microchannels. In response to each micro-injury, an inflammatory healing process begins which initiates the formation of new collagen.

  • Step Two: Human growth-factor serums derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells promote scarless healing with minimal inflammation. Application of serums immediately after microneedling treatment enhances delivery and collagen growth.

  • Step Thee: A wonderfully soothing and relaxing finishing mask provides deep hydration with hyaluronic acid, anti-oxidants, and other nutrients to leave the skin feeling instantly softer.

  • Result: Over time, the repeated healing process improves the surface texture and the overall appearance of the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions about Microneedling

  • Microneedling is a skincare treatment that punctures the skin with tiny sterile needles with either a dermal roller or derma pen to create hundreds of micro-injuries in the skin.

  • The hundreds of micro-injuries in the skin created from the treatment activate the body's natural inflammatory healing process, creating new collagen. Stem cell serums and nutrient-rich ingredients are driven into the skin to enhance collagen growth during the treatment. Over time the repeated healing process improves overall skin texture.

  • A scratching sensation best describes the feeling of the microneedles on the skin. The treatment is very tolerable; however, 400mg of ibuprofen can be taken 45 minutes before your treatment for maximum comfort.

  • Due to the nature of this treatment, your skin may be slightly tender and flushing pink from one to 48 hours following treatment.

  • Follow these post-care instructions to achieve the best results with Microneedling:

1- Because we have created an open wound, you must wait 24 hours before applying makeup.

2- SPF must be worn daily and reapplied every 2 hours when outdoors.

3- Avoid exfoliating scrubs, alpha hydroxy acids, and retinoids in the area for at least three days.

4- Avoid hot showers and saunas until sensitivity has subsided.

5- Use gentle, hydrating, and reparative products. Products rich in soothing and healing ingredients are best to encourage new healthy cell growth. Peptides, Antioxidants, Stem Cells, Vitamins A, C, E, and growth factors work very well.

  • Just like going to the gym to exercise your body and build muscle, multiple Microneedling treatments to exercise your collagen and strengthen the skin will deliver superior results. Starting with a series of three treatments spaced one month apart will kick start your skin into good health. Maintenance treatments are recommended every six months.
